New to this

Well, as this old year is coming to a close I thought I would start the new year with a blog.  Don't know how often I'll update it but will try to keep it current so you know what I'm up to.

As you'll see from my profile, I'm an 8yr old black & white border collie bitch.  I have been living in my "happy forever after home" (as my human companion calls it) since June 2010.  Prior to that I mainly lived in Scotland and I was a show girl (even been to Crufts) and also a breeding bitch for a very good breeder - had a few litters but not sure how many babies I have had.  I had my last litter in February of this year and once they were weaned and didn't need me any more, I was allowed to retire.

I went to my new home in June 2010 and I have to say it was a bit strange at first - there were no other dogs there!! I was used to having lots of dogs and puppies around, and living outside and all of this changed.  Suddenly I was the only dog, living in a house.  I had already met my new companion as she had come to visit me prior to adopting me, I know she was afraid that either she wouldn't like me or I wouldn't like her but to be honest we seemed to hit it off straight away and it was a relief when she came to collect me a few days later.  I was worried she might have changed her mind but she was very happy to collect me and take me to my new home.

It's different to living outside, I have all of the comforts as I'm allowed on the sofa and I have a lovely soft bed but I normally sleep on her bed, mainly to look after her and make sure she comes to no harm, but I must say I quite like the cuddling up bit too!!

Soon after I moved in we had a holiday in the caravan - another new experience.  It was really nice as it was just like being in a very small house and I had loads of room outside in the field and we had lots of walks and visits to new places, but most of all, I liked it cos she was with me all day, every day.

Nothing lasts forever but the holiday was far too short for my liking but I know she has to work so we came home and got back to normal.

In September I got a new sister.  My human fosters dogs for Oldies Club - http://www.oldies.org.uk/, - a fantastic national charity that fosters/re-homes dogs over 7yrs - poor dogs who are no longer wanted, or whose owners sadly cannot care for them any longer.

Anyway, off my human went one day, without me and when she came back she had a small collie cross type dog with her.  We had an introductory sniff and we were both ok about it and she has been with us ever since.  Pixie is older than me, she's 12, and she had been a stray and taken to the pound.  Her owners were traced but did not want her back.  My human says she cannot understand why anyone would not want Pixie back because she is sooo lovely - not a pretty as me mind, but she is kinda cute and pretty.  Because of this we decided to adopt Pixie and so she was adopted in September by us - we have good fun together, have a run around when we're out, and I don't mind her snuggling up to me in the evenings, she's no bother really!

Now, we have another dog with us.  Starry is a 14yr cross lab/hound type dog, she is black with a grey muzzle and she's great too.  She is on the website though as we cannot keep her.  My human says she only has enough money for vet bills for me n Pixie so we cannot have any more forever dogs, just foster ones.

This has been my first Christmas in a real home and we've had a lovely time. Our human has been off work a lot so we have had her with us a lot of the time, we love extra snuggles!!! And of course we got pressies n treats too - mmmmm, I love Christmas. Can't wait for the next celebration - whatever it is!
